Caleb and Ashley: an elegant Soldiers and Sailors affair. With swords :)

I was really looking forward to this one- Ashley and Caleb are such an incredibly sweet, thoughtful couple and have been such a joy to work with. Both their ceremony and reception were planned for the Soldiers and Sailors grand ballroom in Oakland, and they had set aside for a First Look and photos before the ceremony- always a big win in my book!

Second shooter Manny Nguyen joined me for the day and I thank him for both his professionalism and his great candids. Some of his pictures are shown below. Also thanks to Rachael Simon for running the photobooth for the night!

I loved that both the guys and the girls relied on their cell phones for help dressing!

Then it was off to the ceremony…

Because Caleb and Ashley completed their photos prior to the ceremony, they were able to relax and mingle with their guests during the cocktail hour. Which left time for us to grab detail shots as well as guest candids!

Greg and Jess: Engaged!

Jess and Greg chose the North Side for their early Sunday morning engagement session for 3 reasons:

It had a cute coffee shop they could start off in.
Views of the city!
The park there could be used to achieve both a city and country vibe… and these two totally played off the idea of City Girl meets Country Boy. Love it!

Rochelle and Paul are Married!

I absolutely LOVED the park spot that Rochelle and Paul chose for their photoshoot after their ceremony! The light was golden and foliage was still on the trees and these two newlyweds were full of affection for each other. What a perfect combination for beautiful photography! Bride Rochelle got ready quietly at one of her bridesmaid’s homes (remember Vanessa from earlier this year?), where she also saw groom Paul for the first time in a First Look in the backyard.

(Please note all that gorgeous hair…)

For their First Look, Rochelle was so excited to see Paul that she just couldn’t wait and turned around to watch him walk toward her!

After the ceremony we hit a local park for some photos. The rain held off just long enough for us to grab some winners!

Then it was time for some celebrating!

Paul is a musician, so of course he had to serenade his new bride…

First dances…

This was a true DIY (or DIT) wedding… The talented bride put together the bouquets herself and applied her own makeup. Her sister-in-law fashioned her hair and the groom’s aunt prepared the cakes. Even the music setlist was pre-selected by the bride and groom together, and played off of an ipod using the groom’s band’s speaker equipment. So much talent in one place- I love it!!

I hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving holiday yesterday!!! We certainly did… we have much to be thankful for this year and it was so wonderful to take a time out and spend quality time with family!

This year, though, was our first time hosting Thanksgiving dinner… as in our first turkey… so in all the craziness, this is amazingly the only photo I managed to grab… and I love it haha
